A White & Gold Themed Graduation Party

June 10, 2021

When my daughter was graduating from high school, she had one request – a gold and white themed graduation party. So that’s what we did!

Her school colors were obviously not white and gold, but because these are classic hues, it can fit with any graduation party or event. Elegant, classic, and timeless, white and gold fit anywhere.

Here is how to create a plan for the party:

1. BEGIN WITH WHITE & GOLD DECORATIONS

The decorations make the party festive and set the moment apart from every other day in the life of your graduate. Here are my staples:

  • White tablecloths to cover everything from tables to boxes on tables to create varying heights (see picture)
  • candle holders
  • cake plates
  • candle votives
  • apothecary jars for candy
  • picture frames or art
  • tissue paper pom poms
  • paper wheels
  • flowers
  • Vases
  • spray paint! ie. I spray painted some old lamp stands gold and used them as decor.

Here are some of the items I used or are similar to what I used:

2. PLAN A PICTURE AREA

A picture area is a great way to commemorate the day and it doesn’t take a lot of effort. I put a plastic tablecloth behind some white fringe, added some garland, string lights, and balloons and we were good to go! It took minimal effort but added a really fun element to the party.

3. PLAN THE FOOD & DRINKS

I ended up making my own Asian pulled pork and mango rice, but for the sake of sticking with the gold and white theme in this post, I’ll keep our discussion to desserts

Cupcakes or custom cookies are a great way to stick to the theme and bring in your colors. The sprinkle on the top is an edible gold glitter. For this party we chose cupcakes and mini cupcakes displayed on cake stands and pillar candle holders. They were beautiful and a part of the decor.

4. GET THE CANDY

Yes, I have a whole point based on candy! It just makes the party a little more fun to have apothecary jars with gold and white candy filling them. You can find many of your favorite candies online wrapped in gold.

Here are a few I used:

5. ORDER THESE IN ADVANCE IF USING

There are some items that need to be ordered well in advance so you aren’t rushing shipping last minute. These are fun additions to your party.

A Graduation Cut Out

SHINDIGZ offers cut outs of your grad, plus they will take multiple pictures and put them on a shape for you. You will love their selection of creative items, but order well in advance.

Photos

MPIX is the place for photo printing. Gathering pictures from your grad’s childhood is often a large task that we put off until the last minute. Don’t wait! Choose the pictures and get them printed early.

A T-shirt Quilt

My Mom makes each grandchild a T-shirt quilt for graduation, but if you don’t have a mom who does that, Campus Quilt will do it for you! You gather T-shirts that represent the grad’s life and someone makes them into a blanket you can display at the party and they can keep with them always. Pretty awesome!

6. MAKE A LIST OF LAST MINUTE ITEMS TO PURCHASE

Be sure to keep a list close by, including last minute items that you don’t want to forget!

I hope you fully take in and enjoy your graduation season – it it truly memorable and special! Many blessings on the bright future ahead!
