One of the greatest gifts I was given post-surgery was in the form of marinades! My son and daughter-in-law wanted to do some food prep for me and so they made a bunch of marinades and all I had to was throw the meat in. It was the BIGGEST GIFT!
Wasn’t that so thoughtful? I mean, seriously.
What a great idea to do for someone who is sick, who is in grief, or who needs extra support for whatever reason. I’m going to be sticking this one in the idea bank.
And of course, these are great to make ahead of time for your family as you prep for summer on the grill.
Here are a couple of the marinades they made plus a few of my favorites.
Enjoy!
Killer Flank Steak
This is our go-to flank recipe. It’s so simple and yet SO GOOD. I boil the marinade and serve it with the thinly sliced steak.

The best pork, chicken, or steak marinade by Mel’s Kitchen Cafe
This recipe is so versatile and goes with anything. Triple the recipe and throw various meats in it for grilling later.

Huli Huli Chicken by Grilled Cheese Social
This recipe is really good served with pineapple, coconut rice, edamame, and sweet chili sauce on the side.

Professor Plum’s Chicken
I love using plum sauces with meats and this one is excellent. There is something about the sweet and tangy together. In the summer I make plum sauce from the local orchard and freeze it, then use it for recipes like this.

Berry Ginger Carmelized Ribs
This is our go-to rib recipe. If I entered this in a competition it would win an award. It’s surprising and fall off the bone good.

Geri Rein’s Fajitas
The only fajita recipe worth making in my opinion. This tried and true recipe carries with it countless childhood memories for me and it’s the one recipes I hold most dear.
