Each year our kids get to open one gift on Christmas Eve – a present different from all the others.
It is a gift from Jesus – something to grow their faith in the coming year.
Some years is has been an Adventures in Odyssey CD, other years
a new Bible, last year one of the kids got a What’s in the Bible with Buck Denver DVD. Now that a couple of our kids are older, we’ve give devotionals, biographies of inspiring people of faith, and audio devotionals.
We also have a tradition of giving a gift to Jesus.
These can be ideas or actions we’d like to implement in our lives to draw us closer to Jesus and grow our faith (ie. daily prayer time, serving at a non-profit, mentoring someone, etc.).
This year we are picking a gift from Heifer International.
Our gift will provide a family in a 3rd world country with an animal or business to help them sustain themselves and their families.
These gifts are the ones our kids remember most!
