Making a Fourth of July dessert board is one of the easiest ways to bring a festive and red, white, and blue flare to the holiday.
We had a house full and this is a great way to provide something for everyone, even with dietary restrictions. I try to put fruit on every board for those who are trying to stick to a healthier diet.
The Secret Formula for Dessert Boards
People seem amazed when a pretty board is put together. It’s honestly not difficult if you follow a few guidelines. Here are some of the tricks.
- Pick 3 (or so) colors and only put those colors on the board. This adds cohesiveness and makes it look really beautiful. Varying shades of the colors are fine.
- Add fun shapes to the board using cookie cutters (stars for the 4th of July, trees for Christmas, etc.)
- Add a little height or some festive decor – this can be a shape, small risers, or tea towels
