An amazing teacher at our elementary school hosts a homemade Valentine’s box competition every year in his classroom. It is so much fun to see what the kids come up with and how excited they get over their creations.
I love it because it brings the homemade spirit back to the celebration. I know everyone can run down to Target and pick up some darling products, but the kids don’t have to use any of their creativity or skills to grab something off the shelf. These may not be as buttoned up, but they are far more fun.
Encourage your child to make their own box this year. Use these ideas as inspiration!
The giant giraffe
The NASA Rocket
Lights & Gumdrops
The traditional fancy
The box monster
Bumble Bee Box – from Life with Fingerprints
The Frog – from Design Dazzle
The Lego Box – from Off Beat Bride
The Gumball Machine – from Jamielane Designs
The Monsters – by Giggles Galore
The Football Game
The Pirate Ship by Crafty Crow
A couple of other little Valentine tips:
Bring teachers their own special kind of Valentine…STARBUCKS!
& instead of Valentine cards, how about bringing in Valentine DONUTS?
I think my son was voted MOST AWESOME in school that day!
